Discover one of the most impressive geological landmarks of the Aegean volcanic arc. We’ll take you safely and comfortably directly to the starting point of the hiking trails in Kameni Chora, so you can begin your ascent feeling refreshed.
The Historic Crater:The Kameni Chora volcano was historically active between 277 and 240 B.C. (as reported by Strabo, Pausanias, and Ovid). The main crater is approximately 50 meters deep, 100 meters in diameter, and has a cone elevation of 425 meters.
Trail on the Lava Field:The hike takes about 30 minutes along a well-defined trail on solidified lava (andesite), which offers panoramic views of the Saronic Gulf and leads to the heart of the crater.
Volcanic Scenery: Highlights along the route include the “stone river” of lava that stretches 1.5 km to the sea (Mavros Kavos), as well as the peninsula’s network of 30 documented craters (such as those at Throni and Stavrologgos).
Explore a hidden natural landmark that is 2.5 million years old. We’ll take you quickly and safely right to the access point on the western coastal road of Methana, so you can visit one of the region’s most unique geological attractions.
Underground Aquifer: The cave was discovered in 1973 during roadworks; it is 250 metres long and is divided into three main chambers, with underground lakes in the first and third chambers.
‘Peristeria’ stalactites: It takes its name from the unique stalactite formations that resemble doves ('peristeria'), whilst the last two chambers feature impressive stalagmites.
Geological Mystery: According to estimates, the cave’s underground branches extend deep beneath the ‘Throni’ plateau.
Enjoy a unique experience in the great outdoors, in one of the region’s most spectacular gorges. We’ll take you safely and comfortably right to the start of the trail above Troizina, sparing you the hassle of navigating rough roads and searching for a parking space.
The Natural Bridge & the Legends: A natural rock formation that connects the two sides of the gorge. The indentations in the rocks gave rise to the legend of the ‘Devil’s Footprints’, whilst in ancient times they were associated with Pegasus’s hoof and the ‘Hippocrene’ spring.
Wild Nature & Cool Springs: A lush, green ravine lined with plane trees and oleanders, where the river forms small waterfalls, natural water slides and crystal-clear pools with running water even in summer.
Hiking Adventure: The gorge is accessible to hikers and is equipped in places with wooden handrails and ropes to make it easier to navigate the slippery rocks.

Indulge in the natural wellness benefits of Methana’s oldest thermal springs. We’ll take you directly and in complete comfort to Agios Nikolaos (Palaia Loutra) so you can enjoy a therapeutic bath.
2.300 years history: The springs emerged following the eruption of the Kameni volcano (277–240 BC) and were recorded by the traveller Pausanias, the geographer Strabo and the poet Ovid.
Ancient Remains & Tradition: The site contains the remains of a Roman cistern and ancient baths, bearing witness to the continuous use of the springs from antiquity right up to the present day.
Therapeutic Properties: Sulphurous waters rich in minerals, ideal for relaxation, health and natural beauty, whose value has been recognised by historical analyses carried out by leading scientists (such as the chemist Liebig).
